ABSTRACT

Camphorquinone (CQ) (bornanedione, 1,7,7 trimethylbicyclo[2.2.1]heptane-2,3-dione, CAS no 10373-78-1) belongs to α-diketones and in connections with amines (AMH), gives an effective photoinitiating system that is widely used in the curing of multifunctional monomers for dental restorative resins. Mechanisms and kinetics of polymerization photoinitiated by CQ/AMH pairs is presented in detail.
